To begin, gather the following materials:

  • Coordinating thread
  • 1/2 yard food-safe lining fabric
  • Velcro or a snap closure

Once you have all of your materials, follow these simple steps:

  1. Cut two rectangles of fabric measuring 16x12 inches for the outer shell and lining.
  2. Cut two rectangles of fabric measuring 4x12 inches for the handle.
  3. Place the two rectangles of outer shell fabric right sides together and sew around three sides, leaving the top open.
  4. Repeat step 3 with the lining fabric.
  5. Box the corners of both the outer shell and lining by pinching each corner flat and sewing across at a 45-degree angle.
  6. With right sides together, slide the lining into the outer shell and sew along the top. Leave a small opening to turn the bag right side out.
  7. Attach the handle to the bag by sewing each end to the outer shell, approximately 2 inches from the top of the bag.
  8. Turn the bag right side out and sew the opening closed.
  9. Add the Velcro or snap closure to the top of the bag.
