Baby Changing Pad Travel Diaper Clutch Bag

Let's get down to business and go over what you'll need to create this handy little bag:

Description:

The Baby Changing Pad Travel Diaper Clutch Bag is a compact and stylish way to transport all of your baby's diaper-changing essentials. With a fold-out changing pad included, it's perfect for when you're on-the-go and need to change your little one. The side pocket is great for storing wipes, and the overall design is sleek and convenient. Plus, it's super easy to make!

Materials:

  • 1 yard fabric of your choice (cotton or flannel recommended)
  • 1/2 yard fusible fleece
  • 1/2 yard PUL fabric
  • 14" or longer zipper
  • 1/2" width elastic

Pattern Sizes:

This pattern is designed to fit a standard size changing pad, which is approximately 18" x 26".

How to:

  1. Start by cutting out your fabric pieces. You will need two 16" x 26" fabric pieces for the outside and inside of the bag, one 16" x 26" piece of fusible fleece to line the outside fabric, and one 11" x 26" piece of PUL fabric for the changing pad.
  2. Next, cut your elastic into two 7" pieces and sew them to the right side of one of the fabric pieces about 3" from each corner. These will be used to hold the changing pad in place later.
  3. Take your PUL fabric and fold it in half lengthwise, right sides together. Sew along the two long edges and one short edge with a 1/2" seam allowance. Turn right side out and set aside.
  4. Take your zipper and sew it to one of the 16" sides of the outside fabric, right sides together. Flip it over and sew the other side of the zipper to the inside fabric, also right sides together. When you flip it back over, the zipper should be sandwiched between the two layers of fabric.
  5. Topstitch along both sides of the zipper to hold it in place and give it a finished look.
  6. With right sides together, sew around the three sides of the bag, leaving a 4-5" gap along the bottom of the inside fabric to turn it right side out later. Make sure to keep the zipper open so you can turn it later!
  7. Sew the fusible fleece to the outside fabric, following the instructions on the fusible fleece packaging.
  8. Turn the bag right side out through the gap in the lining. Sew the gap closed, either by hand or by machine.
  9. Take your PUL fabric and fold it in thirds, with the middle third being slightly wider. Place it in the bag, with the wider third folded out to create the changing pad. Use the elastic loops to attach it to the corners of the bag.
  10. You're done! Fill it up with all your diaper-changing essentials and hit the road.

And there you have it! A chic and functional Baby Changing Pad Travel Diaper Clutch Bag that'll make your life a whole lot easier. Happy sewing!
