Sewing Patterns For DIY Fabric Laptop Sleeves And Cases

A laptop is an essential tool in today's world, whether you use it for work, study, or entertainment. It's important that you protect your laptop and keep it safe when you're on the go. A great way to do this is by creating your own quilted laptop sleeve.

Quilted Laptop Sleeve

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of creating your own quilted laptop sleeve. You don't need to be an expert in sewing to do this – just follow our step-by-step instructions, and you'll have a beautiful and functional insulated sleeve to protect your laptop.

How to make a quilted laptop sleeve

Materials:

  • 2 pieces of fabric, each measuring 22” x 15” (this will be enough for a 15-inch laptop)
  • 1 piece of quilted fabric, measuring 22” x 15”
  • 1 piece of fusible fleece, measuring 22” x 15”
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Pins

Step 1: Cut out your fabric

Cut two pieces of fabric that each measures 22” x 15”. These will be the front and back of your laptop sleeve. Cut a piece of quilted fabric and fusible fleece that are both 22” x 15”.

Step 2: Fuse the fleece

Place the fusible fleece on top of the quilted fabric, making sure that the rough side of the fleece is facing down. Use your iron to fuse the fleece to the quilted fabric.

Step 3: Quilt the fabric

Now it's time to quilt the front of the laptop sleeve. Pin the quilted fabric to the fabric you want to use for the front of the sleeve. Sew along the seams of the quilted fabric to attach it to the front fabric. Continue until the entire piece is quilted.

Step 4: Sew the front and back together

Take the quilted front piece and match it up with the back piece, right sides facing each other. Pin along the edges and sew around the entire perimeter of the fabric. Trim the excess fabric around the edges.

Step 5: Finish the edges

Now that you have a sleeve, it's time to finish the edges. Fold the edges in towards the inside of the sleeve and sew along the edges. This will give it a neat and finished look.

Congratulations, you've just made your own quilted laptop sleeve!

Tips & Tricks

  • If you're not sure what size to make your laptop sleeve, measure your laptop and add a few inches to each side to allow for room to move.
  • For a more personalized touch, you can add some embroidery, applique, or other embellishments to your sleeve.
  • When quilting the front of the sleeve, you can use any pattern that you like. A simple grid pattern is easy and looks great on a laptop sleeve.
  • Make sure to use a fusible fleece that is thick enough to protect your laptop. If it's too thin, it won't provide enough insulation.
  • If you're a beginner, take your time and go slow. This will help you avoid making mistakes and ensure that your sleeve looks great.

We hope you found this tutorial helpful and easy to follow. By making your own quilted laptop sleeve, you'll have a stylish and functional accessory that will protect your laptop for years to come.
