Sewing Patterns For Face Masks Pleated Fitted And More
It's no secret that we're in the midst of a global pandemic. One way we can all do our part is by wearing face masks when we're out in public. Unfortunately, there's been a shortage of masks for healthcare providers who are on the front lines of this fight. That's why today, I'll be sharing a tutorial on how to make a face mask to help our healthcare providers. Plus, you don't need to be a sewing expert to do it!

First, you'll need a few supplies. You'll need tightly woven cotton fabric, elastic or ties, and a sewing machine. You can find a pattern for the mask at this link:
Face Mask PatternOnce you have your supplies, you can start making your mask. Here are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind:
How to Make a Face Mask
- Cut your fabric into a rectangle that measures 8" x 14".
- Fold the fabric in half with the right sides facing each other.
- Sew the fabric together along the long end of the rectangle, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.
- Turn the fabric right side out and press it flat.
- Fold the fabric in half again, this time with the short ends together.
- Sew the fabric along both of the short ends, again leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.
- Cut two pieces of elastic or ties, each 7" long.
- Thread the elastic or ties through the sides of the mask, and tie them off.
- Trim any loose threads, and your mask is ready to wear!
Tips & Tricks
- Use tightly woven cotton fabric for better protection.
- Wash the mask after every use in hot water and dry it on high heat.
- Avoid touching your face when you have the mask on.
- Make sure the mask fits snugly, and covers both your nose and mouth.
- Do not share your mask with others to prevent possible contamination.
- If your mask becomes damp or wet, remove and replace it with a new one.
By taking the time to make your own face mask, you're not only helping protect yourself, but you're also helping healthcare providers who are risking their lives fighting this pandemic. Thank you for doing your part!
