A Line Skirt Sewing Pattern

Hello everyone! I've stumbled upon an amazing find today that I am excited to share with you. Recently, I came across a free wraparound skirt pattern that I just had to try out. Let me tell you, the results are fantastic! I thought I would take a moment to share my experience with this pattern, including the materials I used, the size options available, and of course, the step-by-step instructions for creating your own wraparound skirt.

A wraparound skirt

Description

This wraparound skirt pattern is absolutely gorgeous. It drapes beautifully and looks stunning on any body type. I love how it accentuates my curves without being too tight or revealing. The pattern fits well at the waist and then flares out for a flattering look. It is a great versatile addition to my wardrobe and easily pairs with different tops and shoes.

Materials

The materials needed for this wraparound skirt are very easy to find. For the main fabric, I used a lightweight cotton material that had a nice flow to it. You could also use silk, rayon, or any woven fabric of your choice. The fabric should be at least 45 inches wide and 1.5 yards long. For the waistband, I used a coordinating fabric, but you could also use the same fabric as the skirt or even a contrasting color. The waistband fabric should be 4 inches wide and 1 yard long. Other supplies include matching thread, pins, and a sewing machine.

Pattern Sizes

This wraparound skirt pattern has sizes ranging from XXS to 3XL. The pattern is very inclusive and can be easily adjusted to fit your body type. It's always best to measure yourself and choose the size that corresponds to your measurements. The pattern provides helpful hints for adjustments and measuring, so no worries if you're unsure of your size.

How To

Now onto the fun part – creating your wraparound skirt! Follow the step-by-step instructions below for a beautiful finished product.

Step 1

Cut out the main fabric and waistband fabric pieces according to the pattern size you have chosen. Make sure to follow the grain line and cut on the bias for the waistband.

Step 2

Sew the main fabric pieces together at the sides and finish the seams. Hem the bottom of the skirt by turning it up 1/4 inch and then turning it up again another 1/4 inch. Sew in place.

Step 3

Create the waistband by folding the bias cut fabric in half lengthwise and sewing the short ends together. Fold in half widthwise and press the seam open. Fold the waistband in half lengthwise again, right sides together, and sew the long edge with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Turn right side out and press.

Step 4

Attach the waistband to the skirt by aligning the raw edges of both pieces, right sides together. Sew with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Finish the seam and press it towards the waistband. Fold the waistband over the seam allowance to enclose it and sew in place.

Step 5

Add a closure to your skirt. You can use a button, hook and eye, or even snaps. I opted for a belt loop and tie closure. To add this, create two belt loops from the waistband fabric and sew them to the back of the waistband. Sew a long tie from the same fabric and attach it to the front of the waistband.

Step 6

Try on your new wraparound skirt and adjust as needed! I found that I needed to adjust the length and the fit of the waistband slightly, so don't be afraid to make changes until it fits perfectly.

Well, there you have it – a stunning wraparound skirt that you created yourself! This pattern is a must-try for anyone looking for a versatile and chic addition to their wardrobe. I hope you enjoy creating your own version and feel as confident and beautiful as I do when wearing it.

Happy crafting!
