Sewing Patterns For Fabric Baskets And Storage Containers
If you're anything like me, you love to sew. There's nothing more satisfying than using your skills to create something beautiful and useful. One of my favorite things to make is fabric baskets - they're quick, easy, and always come in handy. Today, I'm going to share with you some sewing instructions for making quick (and not-so-quick) fabric baskets.

How to Make a Fabric Basket:
1. Choose your fabric. You can use any type of fabric for this project, but I recommend using cotton or linen for durability. You'll need two coordinating fabrics - one for the outside of the basket and one for the lining. Cut your fabrics into the following dimensions:
- Outside fabric: 18" x 12"
- Lining fabric: 18" x 12"
- Interfacing: 18" x 12"
2. Fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of the outside fabric.
3. Place the outside fabric and lining fabric right sides together and sew around the sides and bottom with a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave a 3" opening for turning.
4. Box the corners by measuring 2" from the corner and creating a triangle. Sew across the triangle and trim the excess fabric.
5. Turn the basket right side out and press.
6. Fold the opening under and stitch closed.
7. Topstitch around the top of the basket, if desired.
Tips & Tricks:
- If you want a sturdier basket, use a heavier weight fabric or add additional interfacing.
- You can customize the size of your basket by changing the dimensions of your fabric.
- Use contrasting fabrics for the outside and lining for a fun pop of color.
- These baskets are perfect for storing sewing supplies, craft projects, or even as a catchall around the house.
- Experiment with different fabrics and prints to create unique baskets for every occasion.
So there you have it - easy sewing instructions for making fabric baskets. I hope you enjoy making these as much as I do!
